Preserving History, Honoring Heroes

Experience the Legacy at DeLand Naval Air Station Museum

The DeLand Naval Air Station Museum Mission Statement

The mission of DeLand Naval Air Station Museum, Inc. (DNASM) is to preserve and display DeLand, Volusia County, Florida and other military history on land, air and sea, for public education offered to youth and adults. By preserving vintage artifacts, documents, photographs, books, videos and memorabilia and presenting them for public exhibits and programs, we ensure that current and future generations honor the service and sacrifices of all Veterans who have served or are serving to protect our freedom.

History of DNASM

The DeLand Naval Air Station Museum is a former 1920s-era residence that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Local Register of Historic Places.

The original museum building is one of the last WWII structures remaining in the City of DeLand Airport Complex.  The DeLand Naval Air Station Museum is a 501(c)(3), all-volunteer organization in Volusia County.

The unique and valued organization was opened in 1995, with the support of community donations and in-kind services.  Public tours are free and all segments of the population are welcome to participate including persons with disabilities, senior citizens, youth, and low-income groups.

Donations are appreciated and new volunteers are encouraged to share their time and skills to preserve our military and local history for future generations.

DNASM Today

The DNAS Museum continues to offer the public an impressive collection of historical artifacts, wartime memorabilia, military art, and veterans’ mementos.

In addition to a vast variety of military memorabilia on display from all branches of the military, the collection includes displays dedicated to the men and women who served at DeLand Naval Air Station during WWII, 1942-1946.

The collection consists of photographs and memorabilia donated to the museum and arranged to provide a visual remembrance of the purpose and impact the military base had on the local area.  New educational displays continue to be developed along with public education programs and tours.
